Bath and North East Somerset Council Accommodation Accreditation

Bath and North East Somerset Council's Property Accreditation Scheme is free, voluntary scheme aimed at acknowledging good quality accommodation to raise and maintain standards in the private rented sector. Our scheme has been running successfully for over 10 years. In conjunction with the West of England Authorities we have developed two standards - the basic "accreditation" and the optional higher "accreditation plus".

All properties are inspected prior to accreditation to ensure the properties meet the basic accreditation standard. You do not need to submit an application form prior to inspection.  If works are required to meet the standard, landlords will be given advice and guidance on meeting the standard.

Landlords of accredited properties receive the following benefits:

• Recognition of good quality accommodation with a laminated certificate to display in your property
• Laminated details of rubbish collection days for you to display to help your tenants remember when their rubbish is collected
• Access to grants for fire precautions and security precautions (funding dependent) and access to discounted loft and cavity wall insulation (funding dependent)
• Free advertising of your properties on our Homesearch Website - over 8,000 people looking for accommodation
• Preferential advertising on the university accommodation list
• Access to discounted insurance
• Access to contractors list
