The North Somerset Property Accreditation Scheme is a voluntary, free of charge scheme for landlords and agents. The scheme aims to encourage, acknowledge and raise the standards of private rented accommodation by looking at the management and physical condition of properties.
It has been developed by North Somerset Council, the Accreditation Steering Group made up from agents, landlords and local businesses as well as working with the other West of England authorities.
The North Somerset Property Accreditation Scheme consists of two standards 'Accreditation' and 'Accreditation Plus'. Additional to these standards is a list of 'Commendable Items'. These are awarded to properties that have gone above the criteria set out in the standards. Click here to read the standards.
The scheme is run by a combination of self-assessment and inspections. Self-assessment makes a quicker, easier service for landlords and agents. The Accreditation Officer from North Somerset Council inspects a proportion of all properties and specific properties as required.
In addition to having the recognition of good quality private rented accomodation there are a host of other benfits to joining the North Somerset Property Accreditation Scheme. To find out more, click here.
