Local authorities are able to assist and encourage owners of empty property to bring the dwellings back into occupation in a number of ways.

This can be by means of advice and assistance or in some cases financial support by providing grants or loans to assist with the cost of renovating or improving the property.

The West of England Empty Property Partnership has developed initiatives to assist owners who wish to sell by putting them in contact with developers or individuals who are interested in purchasing empty properties.
